The son of Roc-a-Fella co-founder Dame Dash was arrested this past Tuesday night in NYC for choking his girlfriend.
Damon Dash II, 22, was charged with misdemeanor assault and strangulation for allegedly squeezing his girlfriend’s neck as they argued on Sept. 22 in his West 16th Street apartment.
According to the The New York Post
“They had an apparent dispute over sex,” a law enforcement source told The Post of Dash-the-younger and his girlfriend.
“She was visiting him at his apartment, he got violent with her, starts to punch her, slap her and shove her onto the bed, got on top of her, he grabs her by the throat and chokes her,” the source said.
They briefly reconciled but then had another fight, at which point the victim called the cops, the source said.
Dash climbed on top of her and “placed both of [his] hands around [her] neck and squeezed tightly,” to the point where she had trouble breathing, according to the misdemeanor complaint against him.
At his arraignment on Wednesday, Dash signed an order of protection barring him from any contact with his alleged victim. He was released without bail.
“He did get physically violent with her,” the source added. “She suffered bruises, a black eye and a cut lip.” Her neck was left with red marks, the complaint alleges.

Since Thursday, the city of Atlanta the has been besieged by round the clock meet and greets, parties and listening sessions. All this chaos was for a reason. The BET Hip-Hop awards are in the city and any and everybody in the industry is in the “A” this week.
Soletron was able to attend a meet and greet for hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte. Lyte was in town to promote her new radio show Cafe Mocha. Lyte joins Comedian/TV host Loni Love and veteran broadcast journalist Angelique Perrin on the show where they tackle everything from politics to pop culture.
The show launches this fall on Radio One networks and already has the like, Dr. Oz, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Holly Robinson-Peete, NBA legend Theo Ratliff, Grammy winner John Legend, Marsha Ambrosius and Miss Robbie with the cast of “Welcome to Sweetie Pies,” locked in as guests. The Café Mocha Show also anticipates its bi-annual appearance by First Lady Michelle Obama.
While in town, Lyte and fellow pioneer Chubb Rock held a meet and greet session at the Radio One where fans could ask her questions, snap pictures and mingle with hip-hop legends,. Check out some of the pictures and make sure to catch the show when it airs this fall. -

Hugh Douglas, a former All-Pro defensive end in the NFL find himself on the police blotter once again.
Douglas has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly choking his girlfriend during an altercation early Sunday at a hotel in Hartford, Conn.
Hartford police say Douglas, who had a 10-year career with the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars, has denied grabbing his girlfriend by the neck and carrying her down a hallway to their room as she alleges.
Douglas, 42, was fired by ESPN last month following an incident at an Orlando nightclub where he allegedly called his Numbers Never Lie co-host Michael Smith a “house n—–“ and an “Uncle Tom.”

Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom has been silent since news broke that he was suffering from a drug addiction. He could only hold his tongue for so long. And with his father coming out recently and blaming Khloe Kardashian for his sons drugs use, Lamar decided to let the world know what’s really going on in his mind.
Odom took to twitter and said:
“Won’t continue 2 speak on this but I have got 2 let this out real quick. I have let this man and many others get away with a lot of shit. He wasn’t there 2 raise me. He was absent ALL of my life due to his own demons. My mother and grandmother raised me. Queens raised me. For the first time since they left, came a blessing of a FAMILY that I married into. FAMILY. That man wasn’t even invited to my wedding. He has never met my mother in law and some of my other family. How can a man who has NOT once called me to check on my well being have the nerve to talk so recklessly about his own “son”. He is my downfall! His own demons may be the ONLY thing he gave 2 me. He disrespecting the ONLY FAMILY that has loved me without expecting anything in return. They are the ONLY ones that have been here consistently 4 me during this dark time. Only person 2 blame is myself. Say what you want about me but leave the ones who have done nothing but protect and love me out of this! This goes to out to everyone!

The event is currently on a 8 city audition tour searching for the hottest MC’s who got next. They started our auditions in Philly and we’re coming to A3C to continue the search.

Drake has a great sense of humor. The butt of jokes, he often takes part in some of the jokes that he’ll see online about him.
During the iHeartRadio festival on Saturday,Drake showed the crowd how much of a sense of humor he has. Walking on stage, people were greeted by a shirt he wore. On the shirt was Jaden Smith’s reaction to seeing Drake at the MTV VMA awards!

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s daughter was threatened with a gun Monday night in Marylebone, a section of London, as she walked with some friends and her boyfriend.
Kathryn Blair, 25, was approached by two male suspects who allegedly had a gun but did not use it, the BBC reports. Nobody was hurt and nothing was stolen.
Metropolitan police suspect that the incident was linked to an earlier robbery in the area.

I never really thought about it, but I guess fans of Janelle Monae have been speculating about her sexuality for years. The quirky singer-songwriter with the androgynous look visited “Sway In the Morning” this week, where she was asked about those pesky lesbian rumors.
“Women are amazing€ and so are guys. There’™s nothing wrong with being bisexual, there’s nothing wrong with being lesbian or gay,” she said. “I am an advocate. I have friends who are in same sex relationships and I feel love has no sexual orientation. Love has no religious belief. Love is the purest and most important thing we can possess for ourselves and for others.”
“€œI keep my personal life very much to myself,” she said. “I want everybody to focus on my music. I also don’t want to let anybody down. I want women to still be attracted to me. Go get my album! I want men to still be attracted to me so I have to be political in this. So I can’€™t really tell yall.”
