NYPD Head Says Minorities Will Suffer If Stop-Frisk Ruling Stands (Video)

Ray Kelly

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says minority communities would be “the losers” under a federal judge’s order to change the New York Police Department’s  stop and frisk practices. The judge found the stops have systematically discriminated against blacks and Hispanics.

During an appearance Sunday on CBS’ ”Face the Nation,” Kelly argued that stop and frisk saves lives. He notes that 97 percent of shooting victims are black or Hispanic, and he reasons those saved have the same demographics.

Kelly also was interviewed on ABC News’ ”This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Kelly also raised questions about the court’s order to test outfitting officers with tiny video cameras.

He suggests cameras could be problematic when police respond to domestic arguments or when someone wants to provide confidential information.
