Aaron Hernandez Jersey Swap Is In Full Effect Today In Foxboro (Video)
If you owned an Aaron Hernandez jersey and wanted to exchange, the Pariots Pro Shop was willing to give you another jersey for free on Saturday and Sunday. In lieu of the murder charge Hernandez faces, this was a smart PR move for a New England squad trying to disassociate itself with its former star tight end.
And apparently a popular one as well.
Fans wrapped around the cover at Gillette Stadium to exchange their Hernandez jersey for another jersey. According to to the NY Daily News, fans began to line up at 7:30 a.m. By the time the doors opened at 9:30, more than 100 people stood in line to exchange their unwanted jerseys.
Partiots reps have said that more than 500 Hernandez jerseys have been exchanged so far, with 100 of those being youth jerseys. The most popular jerseys taken in exchange for Hernandez’s #87, were Vince Wilfork and rookie Chandler Jones.
Pats expect to have the jerseys detroyed and recycled.
